Pitch Blog

Pitch 1: A seemingly lighthearted story about a young man navigating his everyday life, filled with moments of joy with his friends and girlfriend. Only to reveal toward the end that his smile hides his stress and depressive thoughts, leading to an emotional end.

We want to do this film because it will be a challenge to create. In comparison to the film we did last year, this film portrays a deep and meaningful topic. The lighthearted tone in the beginning allows the audience to connect with the protagonist, making the final reveal more impactful emotions. It also challenges societal perceptions of happiness, encouraging viewers to look beyond surface level appearances. Everybody goes through impactful events at least some point in their life, and most don't share these with the loved ones around them. This pitch is hopefully aimed to highlight the idea of never truly knowing what is going on in another's life, no matter how close you are to them.

Pitch 2: A grieving individual, haunted by traumatic loss, navigates a city filled with memories of their past. Ending in a symbolic confrontation on a rooftop where they take their first step towards healing.

This pitch offers a cinematic and emotional narrative, allowing for vivid visuals and sound design to convey the protagonists grief and journey towards healing. The combination of flashbacks and present-day scenes create a layered story that immerses the viewer in the protagonist's trauma. However, its success relies heavily on subtle, emotionally driven acting performances, which we are not fully certain we can produce.

Final Decision:

We decided to combine the two pitches, with our final pitch being "A grieving individual, haunted by a traumatic loss, navigates his everyday life, filled with moments of joy with his friends and girlfriend. Only to reveal towards the end that these traumatic events are truly affecting him, leading to an emotional end."

Decision Process:

We appreciated certain aspects of each pitch. We enjoyed the idea of pitch two, with the traumatic flashbacks of the loss of a loved one, cutting into the rooftop scene, this gives us the opportunity to portray a deep message, while also utilizing cinematic techniques to make the film more aesthetically appealing. Additionally, we both were dead set on the idea of pitch 1, you never truly know what is going on in someones life, no matter how close you are to them. We hope to seamlessly combine these two pitches and make a film that is emotionally driven, in addition to aesthetically pleasing.

Group Blog

Hello everyone! I'm excited to share some great news about our Final Task. After careful discussion and mutual agreement, my best friend Conner and I have decided to work together as a duo. We both reflected on the challenges from previous group projects and wanted to create the most effective team possible. Last year, when we worked together on our Media Studies AS Level final task, we discovered something special we could balance having fun while staying incredibly productive. That experience gave us confidence in our ability to work well together. While we recognize that working as a two-person team might present some unique challenges, particularly when it comes to filming, we've already started brainstorming solutions. Our most significant potential obstacle is ensuring we have enough people to play different characters in our project. Obviously, with just the two of us, we can't cover all the roles ourselves. To address this, we've strategically reached out to several friends who will help us. Many of these friends were in our AS Level class last year. We know it's not ideal to rely on people who aren't direct team members, but we feel confident in our chosen support network. To keep everything organized, we're planning to create a group chat and develop a schedule that works for everyone involved. By keeping our core team small, we hope to maintain strong creative control and an efficient workflow. I'm feeling really positive about our approach. Our previous successful collaboration, combined with the support of experienced friends, makes me believe we can overcome any challenges that come our way. We're totally committed to making this project a success, and I'm genuinely excited to see what we'll create!

Intro Blog

Hey Cambridge! I'm back for A Level. I had an amazing time with AS Level.  Let me tell you a little about my origin. I was born February 20th 2008 and I was born in Imperial Point hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. That makes me fifteen years old. I have a decently sized family. I have a Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister and Dog. I am the oldest child that makes me the role model in the family. I started my academic career at Virginia Shuman Young Elementary. Then I went to Sunrise Middle school and now I attend Fort Lauderdale High School. During these years of school I played many sports. For example, I started off playing soccer and baseball at a young age. I later set focus to just baseball and I have been playing for ten years. Baseball has been my passion for so long because it helps me exercise while having fun. I also like baseball because I can practice with my dad. For example, I wakeup at 5am every morning to hit in the batting cages with my dad. We both have a lot of fun together. Baseball is one of my passions/likes. Let's talk about my dislikes. I dislike reading and math. Ever since elementary school I have gotten bored and not been fond of reading and math. My teachers were always amazing but just something about it inferiates me. Maybe one day they'll grow on me and I'll become more fond. I just got back from Toronto and am ready to make an amazing 5 minute film.
